Description

Hehehe..... From my B&W archives from several years ago... This was an old building out on the plains of Kansas. A few of us from our camera club spent a day cruising the back roads. The farmer that owned the property gave us permission to take some photos - this old schoolhouse was on his property. I gave it a sepia tone in Photoshop. Things are getting extremely busy again, but I hope to have the next prologue page done and posted over the weekend. I am making some plans for retirement - whether I can afford it or not! If I can hold out that long, I'll step away from the printer insanity in the autumn of 2017. Thanks for dropping by, and for all your wonderful comments and support! Lots more coming!

I like this one!

if I were to type in Windows 3.11 I'd get back the message, Error 404 Windows 3.11 could not be found.

I still have a computer running Windows 3.11 (P1 no less)

Looking forward to your next page.
Keep up the great work

Am I supposed to take from this that Windows is a neglected facade?

Based on the old DOS system As in Door Opening System.

You have no idea how long I've waited to haul out that lame line.

At least they don't have a large board across the front saying "please wait applying updates".

Oh I love this! I used to go around and take pictures of old windows too. They're so cool. Great comments above 😄

Really beautiful three windows. They made an art out of their craftmanship in the old days, didnt they? Now you made art out of their art. Cool :-) And thank you so much for your very kind words about my little cityscape painting. I really appreciate it, as not many are interested in 2d traditional art in RR.

Other than the sills, these windows appear to be in decent condition.

You most likely know my penchant for reflections by now, so I am naturally intrigued by the various images reproduced within these reflectors.

Extremely cool title! So this is a schoolhouse! They probably made the windows so narrow so the kids couldn't escape! LOL. What great bricks too. This light reminds me of some scenes in the movie "Armageddon" when they showed the people on Earth both getting ready for the asteroid impact as well as then celebrating its destruction. That was my first thought as soon as I opened the image. Very cool shot, my friend!

when I retired , I had no choice. my former business had taken a nose dive. I do not miss the problems with running a business, but I do miss the monetary gain.

very humorous capture. did you ever go to the Cathedral on the Plains in central Kansas?

When I was getting more interested in photography in the 90s I naively thought I could get that sepia tone already in the film. Yeah I was a newb then (still am in some cases, even in my 40s :/).

Like how you framed the windows. They look like the Roman numeral.

I almost envy you planning for retirement. Days I wish I could devote time for things that would be more enjoyable than "work" (my art, coding). Hopefully you will have a good deal of money available. (You should consider a TNA art book, just suggesting.)

The textures make them look like they've been laid over paper bags made to look like brick and stone. Kewl!

I wanted to comment on your christmas image---which is beautiful---but I can only do 3 now, and I chose this because 1) I have to do some of your photography before I go (you're so good at it), and 2) this has an almost Depression era simplicity and directness about it. I like the 3 bold windows, which are still only 'part' of the whole wall. And the sepia gives it a further weathered feel. There's something really midwestern about this---anyone who lives here would understand that. Stark and strong...And the Depression era photographers---who did stunning work---would approve. (FSA. That whole group.) Stark and poetic. Well, more fine photography from you, Rod. And let me wish you and your loved ones a wonderful New Year, and I hope your Christmas was wonderful as well. I hope you didn't have to work much---you certainly deserve a break from that. Finally, I hope 2017 is a lot better year for you than 2016 was. You bring so much light and energy to this place, and you inspire so much from others too. You've done both for me, to be sure. (When RR changed its "look," you were one of the stalwarts who fought for everything good here, and that's just an example of what you do here.) So I hope 2017 brings a ton of inspiration to your doorstep. When I return, I'll get to your TNA work. I just need time for that. Have a great holiday, Rod!!!!

(oh---I ALSO wanted to comment on the Cassandra and gear piece, loved how you mixed her with that photo. And your moon shots. And, well, I could go on. Next time, next time...)
