Description
The first of two Christmas scenes. Church/Cathedral from 3dwarehouse. Trees from Cornucopia and coach and horses from Daz3d.

Friedrich Güll 1812 - 1879 Gefroren hat es heuer...
Gefroren hat es heuer noch gar kein festes Eis. Das Büblein steht am Weiher und spricht zu sich ganz leis: "Ich will es einmal wagen, das Eis muss doch nun tragen. Wer weiss!"
Das Büblein stampft und hacket mit seinem Stiefelein. Das Eis auf einmal knacket, und krach! schon bricht's hinein. Das Büblein platscht und krabbelt, als wie ein Krebs und zappelt mit Arm und Bein.
"O helft, ich muss versinken in lauter Eis und Schnee! O helft, ich muss ertrinken im tiefen, tiefen See!" Wär' nicht ein Mann gekommen, der sich ein Herz genommen - o weh!
Der packt es bei dem Schopfe und zieht es so heraus, vom Fusse bis zum Kopfe wie eine Wassermaus. Das Büblein hat getropfet, der Vater hat's geklopfet zu Haus.

It has been frozen this year Still no solid ice. The boy stands at the pond And speaks to himself quite quietly: "I would like to dare, The ice must now wear. Who knows!"
The boy bangs and chops With his little boots. The ice at once crackles, And cracked! Already it breaks in. The boy squirts and crawls, As a cancer and fights With arm and leg.
"Oh, help, I must sink In loud ice and snow! O help, I must drown In the deep, deep sea! " Had not a man come, Who took a heart - Oh dear!
He grabs it with the knapsack And pulls it out, From the foot to the head Like a water mud. The boy has dripped, The father has knocked it at home.

Love the feel of this. Also, great natural posing on skaters. The ice texturing is what catches my attention. Beautifully done.

I just came across this even though it was done some six years ago... beautiful stuff. Very Currier and Ives. Really a sweet piece. I really love the sky/clouds. Was that a custom created skycap, because it is wonderful? ...Very painterly
