Description

I was thinking the rose may not open because of the several hard freezes we had recently this month. I noticed just now that it did bloom. unfortunately we have a very strong wind and I was not able to get a sharp picture. our forecast is for the mid 70's F. Our low last night was 66 F I saved it very large, if you want to open to full screen

It looks so cool up close! And I like how textured the petals got from the freezes--what crazy weather, though!

Very cool. Sounds like a beautiful day too. Mid 40's in PA and sunny. Not bad for December.

Nature is a marvelously tenacious thing. We had a water lily bloom in late November with the temperatures in the 30's. What a fabulous Christmas gift!

Yes, its amazing to see this beauty in full size, the veins in each petal are grandiose. The background is an added bonus.

I have the same phenomenon with a rose in my garden. The rosebush was a gift from my husband's mother who passed away some years ago. Thus we have the feeling that she is still with us this Christmas :-) Great capture, especially with the poor weather conditions you mentioned !

very nice looking rose I think could have done with a little more DOF and higher shutter speed.I think A canon 5D mark 3 should be ok with iso above 1000
