Description

hope your new year celebrations were safe. I played it safe by sleeping through the midnight hour. it was not cold last night , but I brought my two dogs inside the garage, so maybe they would not be as afraid of all the idiots illegally shooting guns and fireworks inside the city limits. I have never seen any police arresting and or fining people for the illegal use of fireworks. also firing of weapons. sometimes idiots will fire automatic weapons emptying the clip and then reloading to fire more. last November someone was shooting automatic weapons at 5 AM the police wants people to call in such activities but only so they can have statistics, not to do anything about arresting such people . I gave up calling the police unless I have seen someone shooting another person

Did ya' ever see the movie Galaxy Quest? It's really funny and goofy. But anyway, these boulders remind me of the rocks that come to life in that movie. I can't get over how massive these boulders are. The utility pole is like a little stick compared to them. Incredible.

it's nice that you included the pole in the shot - it really gives one the idea of just how massive these rocks are
Happy New Year

Given the different sizes of the rocks there must have been rockslides in the recent past. Another interesting photo, Richard.

As soon as 2017 came I went to bed. Don't want to be a pooper but the holidays lose some luster as one gets older (unless you have a large or close family or friends), didn't help that I worked until 9pm either.

Guns on NYE was always the thing when I was living in the projects growing up. Nothing's changed if you've seen Chicago's murder stats this year. Sickening.

Beautiful capture, Richard! A magnificent photo! We had what sounded like WWIII here in Glendale, AZ! Lots of loud fireworks. I didn't hear any firearms, but then my hearing isn't what it used to be either! We had the grand kids and brought in the New Year with Sparkly Apple Cider toasts! It was fun for all!

Another super shot of theses colorful rocks, Richard!

Amazingly, we didn't have any idiots firing guns this year - and only a smattering of fireworks. Did people finally grow a brain?? Nah...... Probably just too drunk to find the ammo....

Those rocks are so cool--I love how time has weathered and decorated them! I am not fond of fireworks but people shooting guns in the air is the dumbest thing ever--people get killed every year because the fools forget what goes up, comes down fast, usually on someone who had nothing to do with anything. I say go buy extra firecrackers instead so you hurt only yourself. :p

Stunning view of the huge rocks and contrast of colors.

Quiet night here too inside and out--- way to cold for fireworks in our neck of the woods.
