Description
First up HAPPY NEW YEAR TO YOU ALL!!
Second, excuse repeat posts (I did notice - sorry..) Also noticed the Spitfires had been photoshopped before AND posted. The joys of losing everything including folders showing what has and has not been posted where! Groan!
Anyway, this has not.. Its the only airworthy Pup in the world.. And as always with items of this age, its at Shuttleworth.. they entered service with the Royal Navy Air Service in 1916, and by 1917 were all but gone! Such was the rate of aircraft evolution at the time..
Its a beautiful thing and doesn't look like a fighter..

Offspring from the Camel? But I don't see Snoopy in the cockpit. Looks human - could it be Charlie Brown? Would anyone entrust a plane like that to Charlie? No? No wonder he feels a bit depressed. Thanks for the education. Glad to see some of your photos see the light of day, after the cat-ass-trophy (or was it catastrophe?). I suspect, and sincerely hope more will come to light as you continue working on your files. Keep up the good work! :-)

This older brother of the Camel was one of the fine Sopwith aircraft used during the Great War. Wonderful shot of the real deal. I I saw a photo of a repro Pup flying at Oshkosh.

Thomas Sopwith lived to be 101. I wonderful finish to a War Profiteer. Like Bill Boeing he retired to his sailboat. I was only looking because some engineers in the 70's were passing within 6 months after retiring at 55.
