my impression. and I suppose intent, is to display a transition from a less than clear left (past), to a seemingly clear center (present) and onward into a vague right (future). The place makes me a bit "nuts" because of the variance depending on lighting conditions and arrangement.
... perhaps similar to crawling around in an older cluttered attic or basement... trying to retain a mental image.
