Description
Another shot from my driveway last night. The ring around the moon is much fainter in this shot, but you can still see it if you look closely...
Please zoom.

I'm skipping ahead only so I can get a few pieces from the last few days. (If I commented faster, I could comment on so many more...believe me, that irks me...) The contrast, here, between the deep blue sky and red-tinged clouds, and the white around the moon, and the "el greco" shapes and hues in that sky are all so dramatic. Almost an end-of-days sky. But against the browns/red/yellows of that house below? With the rectilinear construction, so different from the bulging billowy clouds? Something from a Vision. The light on the house---not the actual lamps (which stand out wonderfully because of the flare around them) but the light on the facade itself---feels almost unreal in all this dark. But unreal in the way it does, in actual life. You caught it just as it is. And I like the branches in front---left side---because they give a golden tinge to the foreground, which stands out strongly against that 'el greco' sky. Very impressive and dramatic piece. I'm skipping the pure moon shot simply for time (I've seen everything), but this puts it in context, and it's quite a powerful piece.
(I know you know El Greco, but I might as well give a link or 2. It's El Greco's undulation of blues and grays, his outlining in lighter hues, the slinking slithery way he paints the human figure---all of that comes to mind in your sky. Here are just 2 chosen at random---Claude, click on the paintings, because the zoomed version does NOT show up with these links: http://www.metmuseum.org/toah/works-of-art/29.100.6/
