Description

Since 31 July 2010, the cathedral and the episcopal city of Albi have been listed on the Unesco World Heritage List. The construction of this cathedral lasted from 1282 to 1480. The region had been devastated by the crusades against the Cathars, who believed that religion should be lived in poverty, unlike the Catholic church that displayed splendor and wealth. It is these reasons that led the architects to create a brick cathedral, a traditional material in this region and not very expensive. The aim was also to show the sanctuary protected by thick walls. Wonderful Building. I also find it very important that not only the church itself is distinguished as a world cultural heritage, but also the surrounding Old Town. It is shocking, as in the USA churches of skyscrapers are walled in. I think a church should override other buildings ... Speaking about ... A stunning photo!
