Description

Well, it's 2017 and I have been kind of quiet for the last several months even though last year was one of my best rendering years ever. This is my TOS starship model with the Exeter numbering (NCC-1706) firing phasers. Phasers are not something I've done much on but after my learning experience with the light sabers, this was fairly straight forward. This render is a single render (no generation of the background first, etc.) with the exception of the starfield which is one of my staples. There are a lot of lights to get these phasers revved up like this. 1.) There are tube lights along the phaser "bolts/rays/thingies" to light up the underside of the primary hull. 2.) There are bulb lights at the firing ports (which there aren't any, TOS starship phasers just come out of the ship at this location) which add some localized light and also really helped control the lighting that back splashed onto the back of the primary hull and a little bit down to the secondary hull. 3.) There are spot lights at the firing ports which have a 2 degree angle and shine directly into the camera. They have a very custom lens flare setting to get the firing port effect the way I wanted it. 4.) There is another little spot light for that dinky little star in the upper left corner using a lens flare. 5.) There is an under left light which is a teeny bit on the warm side for color. 6.) There is a front upper right light which is basically a rim light. 7.) There is an additional back top left blue light which kind of fills in for that star (fakish but added nice color). 8.) And to finish it all up, there is a skydome to fill in all the cracks. Came out nice enough to post. As usual, everything you see was modeled and rendered by me. Enjoy! -Kix
