Description
Base on fossil records the Kyptoceras amatorum lived nearly 5 million years ago and ranged in the Southeastern United States, there are fossil sites in central Florida and eastern North Carolina. About the size if a deer these mammals probably also lived in the forest, but unlike the modern deer they did not have true horns. Their hornlike features were similar to that of the modern giraffe, which is bone protuberances extending from the skull and covered with a thick skin.
