Description

This is a 3D element that will be inset on the back cover of my upcoming book, Gutshot; Showdowns & Shootouts Adventures. This is a collection of adventures for an historical miniatures game. Each of the chapters was previously released as a standalone PDF (they were submitted as part of a contest, hence the two trophies). This book collects them, which is what this scene represents. This illustration will take up the top quarter of the rear cover. Created in Strata 3D CX 7.0

Lots of goodies to view, but if you are going to use a photo background, you really need to thoroughly examine that image, two glaring mistakes I can see straight up, the horizon lines don't match and your main lighting doesn't match the sun direction from the photo, which is coming from the top left of the frame (check the high-lights on the landscape) once you have fixed those discrepancies, then your 3D elements will look like they belong in the whole scene. Seeing how it is a WIP, I'm sure you will fix the errors before submitting for the final PDF.

~Cheers~

p.s. what happened to your visit on my YouTube channel ?

Ugh. Should have checked here before posting the final PDF. I can live with the horizon lines (the table will be copped tight and it could be at an angle -- and all of the other angles I tried gave me too many trees, which were just cluttering up the composition and making me lose the awards). BUT I should have caught the background light source direction. That is on me.

Alas, it's too late to fix: the books have been sent to the printers. I will just have to repair it in the second printing.
