Crete isn't regarded by many as a hero, in fact he is usually perceived as anything but a good and noble man. However, even the darkest of men have a small spot hidden deep with in their heart where a hero resides waiting for the ideal moment to come forth. Enter Scottlyn, an 11 year old street rat. She's grown up alone in a large city and it's made her smart and tough, unfortunately she isn't strong enough to prevent herself from being hurt by those bigger and stronger than herself. She is tough enough however to endure and continue moving forward, hoping and praying for the day when she's old enough and strong enough to protect herself from those that would do her harm. For those of you that remember my Path of Unspeakable Evil series, had it continued this would have eventually been a story arch. Crete would have discovered Scottlyn and taken her under his protection and in turn she would begin feeling safe for the first time in her life. As the story progressed it would have become apparent that though Crete had saved her, really it was more about how she was saving him...
