Description
Yesterday, the world witnessed a mass outpouring of women, marching for respect, understanding and many other things. I don't get political in my gallery...but, for all of us, whatever your politics, whatever your beliefs, joining together to cry out for things which you believe will make the world a better place to live-in is politics at its best. Instead of condemning these rallies, all presidents should welcome them---whether they're on the right or the left: They're expressions of democracy at its best, and for the love of bettering our world. I didn't agree with every word that was spoken, but I was deeply moved to see so many women (with men and children) come out for these rallies; and I knew conservative as well as liberal women who attended them. That moved me greatly.
For many years, I did service. I worked with people on the street, people who were sick, etc. And we had seminars and forums for people to come together. Often we had Muslims, Christians and Jews and encouraged listening; people who believed in gods and no gods; men and women, many races, and so on. Many forums had screaming; emotions flew high. But they ended in greater closeness everytime. Those of us who created the forums---from all sides of the issues---got threats. Real threats, in phone calls, messages and emails. It's stunning, and you feel very, very vulnerable: But you learn (with the help of police, lawyers, etc) that most of them are from a handful of people who love to create hell. It was eye opening. That's how deep the divisions go.
It was thrilling to see people take to the streets peacefully, for beliefs that they can make the world better. I hope everyone can embrace that at heart.
A final word:
In my writing, I create characters who are buffoons. Some are silly, some regressive, some just clowns. They're not how I feel, they're just what I see. (I wouldn't be much of a writer if my characters were all 'politically correct'.) I hope I imbue them with humanity, above all.
I say this not because any of you have complained---you haven't---I just wanted to make it clear.
The image is blue and red (political), washed over with pink.
I'll resume commenting tomorrow.
Thanks for your kindness and inspiration: It's truly and deeply appreciated.
Mark

I couldn't agree more. But, when you stand up for a common human decency, self serving people will always go on the warpath. Altruism and selfishness will never co-exist. They're fundamental opposites. We will always need to guard against that, and those who get off creating hell.

I've been reading about the marches and some stories that women have told about why they were marching.
Great image

I must say I really like the soothing tones and hues, maybe they should project this onto buildings at all rally's to stop the unnecessary violence ? but, I agree, everyone should be allowed say what they want as long as it doesn't lead to some others misfortune. Nuff said, cool artwork.
~Cheers~

Mark - Though I personally am definitely (& unapologetically) on the blue side of the political spectrum, I agree with you & do believe in listening & being able to civilly & rationally debate issues with those who think differently than I do. Renderosity is probably not the best forum to do that, but still politics is part of the reality we all must deal with & so it will pop up here from time to time. Thinking of your piece in those terms, I would like to see the hard edges of the political blues & reds soften & dissolve into pinks, purples, magentas & the like. It may be a pipe dream, but as long as we're still talking to each other rather than killing each other, there's always hope...

Whatever has happened recently, is in the past now... [it's already in the past, as we are speaking] I conclude: "Friends, let go of your anger and embrace the new !" and if you don't, it will eat you away and that's when you end up with disease...start to relax and learn to stop undermining the new. We will never come to agree on either, who is right or who is left - so let's give it a break, no ego-tripping or you will end up on the warpath!
I rest my case and hope that he will prove his critics wrong !
I love your designers image Mark, it's like the rings of an old gnarly tree, if you fell the tree and cut through the centre... very symbolic - I like it ! and thank you so much for bothering to go through some of my old archives here in the gallery and commenting - I am speechless and so humbled by all your praise

I have to agree with you 1000% Mark. Coming together peacefully to work for justice, equality, and positive change is what the fabric of this great country is all about. We now have a new POTUS - love him or hate him, it's now time to come together... Not to riot and set cars on fire - that accomplishes nothing - but to work as one nation and one people to heal our wounds and move forward.

Love the graphic, Mark - it beautifully illustrates the smooth melding of blue and red.

I so stay away from politics, marches demonstrations and all that. I just keep to myself mostly and rarely give my views. I have mentioned a few things about our future with b the Trump in office. Great piece of art, Mark.

Don't worry about politics, Mark, I'll be political enough for both of us. I haven't felt this fired up since the 1960s. Maybe its because you mentioned the march but I see a very stylized female figure in blue. Two legs and a torso with a very long arm on the left side of the image. Aside from that this is a very soothing image. Wonderful work.

Interesting piece on the politics of massive protests. You've gone political on us, Mark. In apolitical Renderosity, you gone political on us. Let's face it, this particular protest was all anti-Trump. This wouldn't have occurred if Hillary Rodham Clinton had won the election. Actually, women have it pretty good in this country, in contrast to those in India and the Middle East. I agree with a woman's stand on abortion, the right to control her own body, but these massive people marches also attract all kinds of characters, with their own particular agendas: the rights of illegal immigrants, equal pay, anarchists, rowdies, et al. I'm with the abortionists, although they should be more careful when having sex, either in bed, on the sofa, the back of a car, or on a pool table. They should provide more protection against getting pregnant. My biggest gripe is with the pro illegal immigration crowd. The illegals cheated, broke the law and should be sent back to their own original countries. Many bring communicable disease, if nothing else. They collect benefits far in excess of what they contribute monetarily to the nation. So if that's called political correctness, so be it. All of the above from an independent voter and a WWII veteran, sick of watching our country go to hell.

A beautiful tribute to all who have the courage to express their beliefs and help make the world a better place. It was inspiring to see the massive peaceful rallies and I know several women who participated. Your fine abstract is very organic, and I see hearts of different colors with arteries flowing from one to another, connecting us all as humans.
