Hi, I'm Marilyn. Â I've been posting here on RR for a few years now and thought it was time to update my profile. Â It's been wonderful learning so much from the amazingly talented people here. Â I've had the chance to meet many in person and some have become great and good friends. Â Starting with a Kodak Brownie camera when I was about 7 or 8, moving up to Instamatics, Polaroids, then the Pentax K1000 that really got me on the way, I've been looking at the world thru a lens for a long time. Â Got the bug honestly; my dad was a photographer and gave me the gene!! Â Digital changed the world and I jumped in with both feet. Â You would've gone thru 100's of rolls of film in one day the way we can shoot and delete all day long. Â Progess...it can be awesome sometimes.
At any rate, RR rocks, the talent is over the top and I'm just gonna keep on shooting!!
Thanks for looking and keep those cameras rollin'!!
peace.....marilyn

We had a pawn shop in our city until it closed due to lack of business - sad really
Great capture

That, and you have to wonder how many of the things in those shops were stolen from someone. I won't set foot in them, either. But it does make for an interesting photo subject.

given your feelings about pawn shops (which I fully understand), you captured this place as a dark sad place. The deep shadows inside---because it's closed, I assume---are made all the more notable by the extremely bright greens and whites of the sign: Really strong contrasts, and very 'late night urban'. The word "sale" in the window is so dulled out by the shadows, so it seems ironic and sad. Fine work, Marilyn. You captured the strange sadness of these places. Reminds me of the film, "The Pawnbroker".

There are times in life when you need money urgently and in large quantities. That's why I had to contact magnifi financial customer service . Everything went faster than I expected - the application was approved in a matter of minutes, and the money was immediately transferred to the card. The interest rates are reasonable, the conditions are clear, without hidden fees. The main thing is that they don't require anything extra, the entire process can be done online. If you suddenly find yourself in a situation where you urgently need money, I can recommend this option - really fast and convenient!
