Description

I decided to try my hand at a scene just to see what I could do. Still trying to get use to the Content management system but I'm getting there. This is Stacy trying to escape a metallic scorpion on the Gothic Arch while traveling through space.I included a spotlight to speed up the render. Why she is out there, running from the scorpion on the Gothic Arch that's traveling through space is beyond me. I just do what my mind tells me to do. On another note, the first upload of my balls, there were comments about how rough looking they were. there is a reason, I created them with 24 sides and 24 segments and therefore they looked a bit jagged. the second time, I created them with 256 sides and 256 segments, thus allowing for my balls to be smother and shinier. This render took 80 minutes to do. Thanks to all who commented and faved my images. and to those who have helped and are willing to help in my quest to at least get a handle on DS 4.9.whatever....

I see you're making progress 😃 Well done!

About the jaggy balls: instead of raising the polygon count, you can as well apply subdividing in DAZ-Studio. This works very well (as long as you don't need sharp edges in the particular object) and helps you to lower the load on your machine and keeps the scene still easy to edit (still fast when rotating or zooming) 😉

Yes, as Furnose said, subdividing works well in a lot of cases as well. Send me a PM to remind me and I'll toss you a screenshot. Low poly stuff you want to use for distance things. Save higher poly stuff for closeups where detail is important. You can even make low and medium resolution textures by halving the image dimensions if you are loading some with huge 4000x4000px textures in distance shots. Just remember to save with an appropriate file name.

Excellent work, Mike! You did great! I love the look of the textures you're getting on your props and wardrobe and everything. Extremely cool characters in this scene too! PS ... You made me laugh about your smoother and shinier balls! 😀

You seem to be getting familiar with Daz Studio something or rather (is that actually like an increment update ? LOL) not sure why Stacy is there myself, probably some sort of new health kick she saw on T.V. @ Fae Valley, like the Scorpion Bow Flex...erm...

~Cheers~

That's funny my friend, smoother balls! And this image by far is one of your best creations, Mike. I really like! Cool textures all around. 100☆

Great detailing in the textures which, I think, is what makes the render longer!? Well, a fine result, Mike! Bravo!

Everyone runs from scorpions. even blue ones. gives them a complex, it does. no one cares. gives them another complex. it ain't easy being a scorpion. no one cares.

GREAT image!!

This is a great looking scene, Mike! Looks like Stacy needs to get a move on!

DS seems to be a very deep application - in the aspect of how much stuff you can fiddle with. I'm finding the lighting works quite a bit differently than Poser - not terribly difficult, just different. I'm still trying to get used to how the intensity is adjusted.

I have a render running right now with G4 - it's been going for 45 minutes, and is only at 4% (2500 X 3200). I changed her default skin to her T.N.A. skin, and put 4 lights in the scene. It will be an all-night render, obviously! 😴

Once again, I don't have a clue about the technical steps here, and I'm reading the technical responses you got with jealousy lol. I wish I understood all this. (You don't have terms like this in 2D. No "runtime," no special 'rooms', no props and wardrobe or Content Management Systems. This is a whole different world!)

But, as an image, It's delightful. Maybe not for the lady, who's a weeeeee bit close to that scorpion---who appears to be made out of turquoise, for some reason ( lol)---I like her fleet footed stance. And it's gotta be a little cold in her bikini...that doesn't look like a well-heated area...

But, whatever she's doing, I love the wild fantasy, and the strange combo of her, the scorpion, and that big imposing chunk of architecture---which just happens to be floating in space. (Why the f--- not! I love her dance step too.) But that thing behind them? That brown glob with yellow outline? Is that a monster? Or a big glob of cooked liver? Love your whimsy. Sorry I haven't clue about the technicalities, though...

Aw, come on, Mr. Scorpion just wants to play. You are moving at light speed in mastering the new software but 80 minutes? I hope you went and made a sandwich while you were waiting.

Typical female. The bikini colors be suitable to the scorpion. Great image.

With the scorpion being THAT close, I fear running isn't going to do much good anymore... :(

Good lighting and great texturing on the architecture. Like the space background, too. Shouldn't there be some kind of ground where the white area is, though?...
