Ana (anaber) has been a dear friend for some years now, and she has struggled much of late. Family illness, terrible challenges, hardships, etc.
I just want to send her my love and my wishes that she find relief and uplift, more with each day.
We have a feeling, in America, that life should be good to us. But, for many people everywhere, it's a matter of making light where we can. Because life delivers great hardships, and we have to tackle them as we can.
Ana has done that with such devotion, and I wish I could send some big ray of light over there (in Portugal) to lift her burdens and make her life a total dance. She spent so many years working for others, during the revolution in her country (against one of Europe's most vicious dictators), and to help women, and help free her country. She raised wonderful children, and now has grandchildren. And she is going through so much struggle now.
So I made this painting with, I hope, light and passion for her. I'm not being deprecating when I say I can't make nearly the painting or drawing she makes. (Helle feels the same way: We tell each other we'd do anything to be a 10th the artist Ana is.) The bottom panel is my attempt at capturing the magic of her 'cartoons', with mystical figures dancing in night skies...Her cartoons are magic, folkloric; and, if you visit her gallery, look back...along with Helle, I'll tell you she's one of the finest artists I've ever known. Her pencil portraits, alone, are exquisite: They're so soft, yet so massive in depth.
I wish you strength and light, Ana; and may all the light you've given others come back to you 100 fold. Much light and help from angels, both human and beyond.

Each one of these panels has something so different. The top one seems to have faces everywhere you look, the second has a man dancing in springtime and the last gives us the full moon peeking thru on a cloudy night. I guess it's kinda like lying on your back, seeing clouds and finding all kinds of things up there. What a beautiful gift for Ana; I hope this brightens her day and brings her a bit of joy in her life.

I am not back yet, but I simply must say, how much I love this triptych for our dear friend, Ana and how much I agree with you in all you said. To me, red is a symbol of love and in Denmark we say the hope is Light Green, so I see Love and Hope for a Lighter future for our beloved friend. Perfect triptych, dear Mark. I Echo all you wrote here, so I wont try to say more. :-)

OHhh Mark!:) I am deeply thrilled with your gift ! and words don't come with ease.. This painting is truly fantastic! the three panels together and each one ´de per si' are a DANCE-just as you wanted it to be! They are the dance of LIFE- or the dance that life should be: A dance wrapped with dreams. BUT... Life is a trap and we play with her the 'cache-cache' the best possible and that we are able and in reality, we learn a lot in the way:)).. Mark, I adore the bold colors in the first panel, curling, like in a strong embrace. I imagine a 'burning' cave! The dark shapes are persons to me.The light is magnificent! :
The second panel is so calm, so delicate...there is so much light but still a dance or a promenade in the sun ! (Marylinn sees a person dancing. I see two and lots of observers:)) . I love the delicate yellows and greens...remembers me the SPRING ! And Spring brings renewal , hope and strength! Thank you for your wishes, Mark!
And finally! A dance under the moon. I ADORE THIS, Mark:) I adore the full moon and the dreams that she brings with. The shapes floating in the space, are dreams to be caught! And the moon is the catcher :) Thank You for remember my doodles, Mark, but i can see yours! I can see your dogs, lol! Your words are priceless, Mark... but i don't think that i deserve them so much as you say...! But Mark, please know that You brightened my day. I felt the Love and the warmth of the true friendship.You are a gift for all of us as i read above...and you are a gift in my life! Today, was a day that branded me... it was the day that my parents- both- passed away . Many years in between them...BUT the same day and at the same hour...and i never forget ! Because of my never ending physical plight I've fallen too far behind on my comments, so I'll keep this one short. First of all, I don't recall any Portuguese despots of recent decades. Spain, yes. That said, a great triptych of panels displaying what looks to me like what one would see in a lava lamp. I'm always searching for analogies with your art. The bottom one suggests sharp edged clouds or icebergs in the sky. I have no idea how you perform this particular style of abstractions, Mark, but they are loverly in their liquidity. A wonderful tribute to your ailing friend.

For me, the progression is from a state of intense activity, then to a more peaceful and calm acceptance, then to a meditative and relaxed and open state. What a beautiful piece for Ana, who (as you say) has more talent than I can even comprehend! She is such a loving soul. and I wish for her the kind of deep peace I see in the last frame.
