I am 58 years young, live in Johannesburg, South Africa and I'm a true product of my continent. I love the bush, the animals, sunshine, sunsets - oh well, anything to do with nature. I am unmarried and have three sons - 37, 33 and 30 respectively and three granddaugters aged 12, 6 and 4 respectively and obviously the light of my life! Photography has always been a passion and I have loved it since I can remember. I was still using a SLR camera and only switched to digital only in late 2007! My other passion is travel and I have been lucky enough to have travelled fairly widely. There are however still many, many places I would love to visit "one day." I am truly an amateur photographer and do it merely as a hobby. So please be gentle when you comment on my work. :-) Thank you Piet, my dear friend, for convincing me to place my work on Renderosity. You owe me one! Hugs, Carin xx

You captured a wonderful mood of the hour! First thought was: what is that building? and reading your info it was answering my question, thx 😀

The building is really strange! Wonderful capture, Carin!

Great shot! One summer the sun bounced off that building and melted a car :D

Not exactly the RMS Queen Mary 1 or even 2, but fine detail and a great POV in this shot of the zippy boat and that huge weird thing in the background, Carin. It sure doesn't look like any walkie talkie that I have ever seen or used. I can't even foster up a proper analogy for it; maybe a humongous wastebasket. In any event, I like the subtle lighting contrast and the water textures.

wild but beautiful architecture and a very large sailing ship

The 'walkie talkie' is one strange building, but it adds a presence and color to the shot, harmonizing with the sky behind it. And the ship emerges out of the mass of stuff in the mid and foreground. And its mast reaches higher than anything behind it. An impressive composition and massing (love your pov); and the tree in the left foreground adds a kind of 'tassel' to the whole. Beautiful, pastel capture, Carin.
