Description
Susan didn't believe the stories the other party-goers at the pub told her. Stories that the moor was haunted. By a hideous monster that fell upon unwary travelers and devoured them, leaving only a desiccated husk behind. In fact, so strong was her disbelief that she was determined to prove the superstitious locals wrong by betting them she could walk across the moor to the next town and back before closing time.
The other patrons refused to take the bet, begging her not to be foolish and go out there alone.
But their refusal only convinced her, all the more, that she was right. And she insisted that she was going. When she got back, they were all going to owe her a round of drinks!
And with that, she left, her heels clicking on the broken pavement and full of herself... The silly locals were watching her through the pubs dirty windows... She would show them!
