Hi, I'm Andrea, and I'm interested in creatures and plants both wild and tamed, and people of all sorts. I only use a compact digital camera ,as I love being able to get it into a back pocket, and not have to cart heavy kit about. I carry a Panasonic Lumix TZ series, binoculars and a hand lens almost everywhere. Most of my outings are with the dogs so I only use point and shoot.
I am getting the hang of Photoshop, thanks to some very kind folk on RR!
I have a wildlife garden in Bournemouth, Dorset, in the UK, and spend a lot of time there . I retired from teaching art to teenagers a while ago.
I'm now getting some good results with my digi compacts; it took me a while to make the switch from my old film camera, an 1960 ish Pentax Spotmatic, but the mistakes are much cheaper!
I have 4 lodgers, 3 dogs and a parrot who, as at 2017, I have had 40 years.
I has so far had 19 dogs, mostly rescues.

Very good! You got his face very well - agony indeed! I was treasurer in a small congregation. Budget work and accounting was bad enough, then came closing the books! I kept getting messed up sums and other frustrating things pop up. GLAD when I was freed from it all! I only presented final figures and the other PCC members had gotten print-outs so there wasn't much to say apart from clarifying the occasional question. Nice that you got the sketch back after the poor man died. Keep up the good work. You've got talent! :-)

You can definitely see the agony and frustration in his pose and expression!
Excellent work

Ah, what unpleasant memories this brings back! Managers and other such important people usually sit alone in their big offices. They want to show everyone what excellent managers they are and from time to time they get lonely. So, what to do? Meetings! An exercise in cruelty inflicted upon the hoi polloi by those in charge. This is a terrific character study. Reminds me a little of the 'Thinker' although in this case he is probably thinking of ways to get out of this meeting.

WELL! You could have fooled me, Andrea. I think you are super great at this and now you told otherwise. I can´t believe you. Perfect perspective, pose and style.

love Mark's comment, and I'm with Helle too. This is a terrific capture of a complete state of mind. It's in the posture, the face, the way you shaded him, the way he fills up the space---I can see why he had this on his wall. The fact that it takes you a long time to do figure work doesn't mean you don't do it well. This is a terrific drawing. The cross hatch on the glasses really hems him in, he's lost inside himself, frustrated to the core. Terrific. Just terrific. (I'm skipping only so I can get a variety right now...) I had to comment on this, I loved it the minute it went up.
