Description
Taken yesterday. My wife, Arlene, in front of a wall of snow in the parking lot at Crater Lake National Park. We drove up to an area about 50 miles northeast of where we live to see the snow & hike a little, but the trails at our destination (Rogue River Gorge) were closed - we couldn't even drive in to the trailheads. Another couple we met told us Crater Lake was open & since it was only about another 25 miles ahead, we went for it. Not a well planned trip, as it was already past three o'clock & we wouldn't have much time to spend there, but it was beautiful. The 25 miles were like driving though a snow tunnel, with walls of snow on both sides much like the one in this photo.
A couple of more photos of Crater Lake itself to follow...
Please zoom.

My first thought was snow plow passing through, and right I was! Really nice photo showing the depth of snow here. I wonder what it's like in spring with all this thawing! Flood season? Keep up the good work. This is exciting - most photos are summer photos. These give a completely different picture! Keep up the good work! :-)

I'd like to have about half that amount of snow around here, just so I can play with my snowshoes....

Well, unlike tara and bill, I never met Arlene, so I'll say hi even though she has no clue who I am, lol...Striking shot, with her up against that almost sheer wall of snow. (I saw that in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan and in Canada, in the winter.) Love the contrast of Arlene against that sculpted wall. And the black in front, and the cutoff trees in back. Delightful.
