Description
Captured way back on 10/18/09, at the beautiful Orchid Show, held at the beautiful Huntington Botanical Center and Conservatory in beautiful San Marino, California.
Strange, I was surprised this beauty was at an orchid show. With that shiny plastic exterior, it doesn't even look like a real plant. It does remind me of a calla lily, though.
Anthurium is a genus of about 1000 species of flowering plants, the largest genus of the arum family, Araceae. General common names include anthurium, tailflower, flamingo flower, and laceleaf.
The genus is native to the Americas, where it is distributed from northern Mexico to northern Argentina and parts of the Caribbean.

Yes it is indeed a strange plant. We can buy them in the flower shops here :-) Beautiful shot.

Stunning shiny reds and contrasting greens, and contrasts in textures too---between that "plastic-y" red leaf and that green stamen/projectile. Real clarity and oomph, Harry. A very striking shot.
