Description
After the orchid show I visited the Chinese Garden section of the beautiful Huntington Botanical Center and Conservatory in beautiful San Marino, California, and recorded this pic of the parquet floor leading to one of the exhibits.
I'm relatively sure that these parquet inlays were made of stone, but I wouldn't bet on it.

I think they were made of little white and black stones from the seashore or they made them look like that. Now a days you can form stoned this way, by slicing them and let them role around in a cement mixer and they look like what you find on the beath near my home, for example. The rest could be made of slate. This is a darn beautiful floor.

a big sea of beautiful stones packed in like little ponds of currents. Or tiny collections of dinner rolls. Beautiful hues and light in this, as well as shadows. Your pov lets the area pan out across space, with lots of rich light too. Almost an abstract; it's beautiful. (And I've never seen a surface like this before!)
