Description

The archeologist found two of these Brass Buckles from one grave in a big graveyard. It was a graveyard from late Ironage and early Viking age. This is the first of the two she found. Maybe a few of you remember, that I had the previlege to dig together with this kind Archeologist. She even allowed me dig severel graves all alone, because of all i had learned in the three months, washing other finds. It was so terribly exiting every single day I was there. And the big luck was with us. We found amazing things in many of the graves. Severel buckles. I found 3 myself. Iron knives bones, but also glass beads (15) To make a long story short, his was one of two, the biggest bucklets, found in this graveyard. One of them was broken, but was put together by professional taxidermist. A drawing of that will follow later. Full ZOOM, more details. I had family visit most of today, so I havent had time to comment on your beautiful work, but I will do my best to catch up tomorrow.

Great lighting effects to emphasize the definition of the ornamental design, Helle. Just loaded with hygge, it is. And you actually dug up stuff in a graveyard? I wonder if you released any spirits of the long ago deceased.

Oh, I try to imagine, seeing you digging, and then finding something so very special, as exiting. What a great stories and memories, Helle. I love to read them, as what I just wrote, I really am exited with you. It's a marvellous photo and subject. I love those history, here in Limburg we have oldmarl quarries, and within you can find fossils, all kind of see animals, and also over the border in Germany we went to search for fossils in the quarries volcano. Just love that "old stuff". ;-)

I'm with Andrea. It feels real. YOur shading makes this mysterious, it really does feel like an object from way, way back. And such a strong buckle. You shaded the segments very well, Helle, they really pop off the surface. And excellent shade on the bottom. It must be hard to draw this, with all the irregularities in it, and the cracks and missing sections. A wonderful drawing. It almost looks like fabric in spots (in zoom). This is an amazing series.
