Mrs. W said she'd never seen a large ship (watching AHC), so I checked out what NYC had to offer for our upcoming trip. I soon found the carrier I expected, but also some added treats: a missile sub (and a snorkel-boat to boot!), a Concorde!, and a space shuttle. How could this go wrong. You get so involved with the exhibits and explaining things that you forget to take pictures, that's how. (FERT!) On GROWLER (the sub) I got so busy BS-ing with a guide that the camera totally faded away. The guy had been part of a carrier aviation force (deck crew) that the chatter overrode all other considerations. Bottom line: I ain't got much to show, but I STRONGLY encourage anyone going to the Big Apple for a holiday to not miss this collection. INTREPID has an amazing collection of aircraft on the flight deck and we have some phone camera images I need to evaluate for posting quality or interest. There is also a food concession aboard and the smell of cooking on a warship is unique. It just smells different and better; much like hot dogs at $10 a pop smell better at a ball park. Well, this sad image is just a walkway on the starboard side of the ship. It brings back memories ... of a very boneheaded incident which I may share.
