On 24 August 2419 at 06:14 UTC3, on the fourth planet (EGO 1703-00000298712) of the star Acubens (EGO 1703-00000088319 or HD 76756) technology of Civilization Gardener – type 'C5A' automated surveyors – discovered and repaired a disabled C.S.S. floater bot belonging to Civilization Humanity.4,5 According to Civilization Gardener, surveyor technology was dispatched to Humanity's Sphere of Influence shortly after Humanity's detection.6,7 The Gardeners are the least adherent to the Ethic of the Community, their technology has been detected well within the Sphere of Influence of most known civilizations.8,9 So it is not surprising that the Gardener surveyors landed on EGO 1703-00000298712 while Humanity's technology – no living membership - was active on the planet, in orbit and elsewhere in the Acubens system. Such intrusions are not malicious, but are hazardous should an unplanned encounter occur between civilizations which are technologically, biologically or intellectually unmatched. Upon arrival the Gardener surveyors detected the disabled floater on the surface well separated from its cohort. The alloys in the bot's exterior stood out on a surface spectrographic survey. Also, the bot's solar panels continued to collected energy - high density, atomic photo-excitation - another detectable technological signature. According to Civilization Humanity, floater UNAX-149-F had been struck by lightning on EGO 1703-00000298712 and inoperative for 1502 days. The discharge catastrophically damaged the bot's processing cores. Forty-two (42) percent of its neural network had been vapourized with another twenty-four (24) percent chemically or mechanically compromised. Its cohorts determined that the damage was too extensive for on site recovery and continued their mission without it. Their history of intrusion did and does equip Civilization Gardener with foremost experience regarding technologies not there own.10 Upon inspection, the Gardener surveyors recognized a kinship of purpose with the disabled floater leading them to attempt its repair.11 This was accomplished through the projection of simulated conductive pathways to the surviving pico-electronics. All possible pathways were exhaustively ventured until basic logic tests succeeded. This foundation made further reconnections predictable. In general, damaged technology is systematically revived to where self repair mechanisms are enabled or the technology can provide instruction for repair. Finally, compatible conductive materials were overlaid along the simulated pathways.12 Complete understanding of the floater technology was not required for recovery. The repair was successful.
