Description
This is part of a sequence of pictures I shot at a recent fireworks event at Disney World's Magic Kingdom. They were a special fireworks event for DVC members which presented a number of factors I would not normally have. Since shooting fireworks has never worked well for me, I decided to experiment a bit.
First, since it was a semi-private event, the park was sparsely populated. Letting me scope out a vantage spot without having to wait all night in one spot and not having to worry about people walking in front of me.
Two, it was later than normal (after midnight) so the sky was a lot darker.
Three, the display was a lot longer than usual, giving me plenty of time to see what would work and what wouldn't.
Technical details:
Pentax K-3 II Camera
Shot in Camera Raw at 4024 x 6028
Camera was set to Sensitive Priority with Automatic Exposure
No tripod was used, so each image was freehand
Pentax HD DA 20-40mm f/2.8-4 ED Limited DC WR Zoom Lens
Extensive tone mapping and RAW processing was done in Photoshop.
