Description
This is part of a sequence of pictures I shot at a recent fireworks event at Disney World's Magic Kingdom. They were a special fireworks event for DVC members which presented a number of factors I would not normally have. Since shooting fireworks has never worked well for me, I decided to experiment a bit.
First, since it was a semi-private event, the park was sparsely populated. Letting me scope out a vantage spot without having to wait all night in one spot and not having to worry about people walking in front of me.
Two, it was later than normal (after midnight) so the sky was a lot darker.
Three, the display was a lot longer than usual, giving me plenty of time to see what would work and what wouldn't.
Technical details:
Pentax K-3 II Camera
Shot in Camera Raw at 4024 x 6028
Camera was set to Sensitive Priority with Automatic Exposure
No tripod was used, so each image was freehand
Pentax HD DA 20-40mm f/2.8-4 ED Limited DC WR Zoom Lens
Extensive tone mapping and RAW processing was done in Photoshop.

A very interesting & creative series. I like them all, except for #2, in which I think the pink is a little too overwhelming (for my taste, anyway). For several of them (including this one), I'm impressed that you were able to hold the camera steady for such a long exposure - 1/15 sec is about the best I can do without a tripod...

Thank you!
It wasn't easy to hold still, but it was a long fireworks sequence (10 to 15 minutes I think) so I had plenty of time. I took over 200 photos and most are just blurry nightmares. I was a bit lucky in my placement as I had a fence in front of me steady against, a nice framing from the plant life, and far enough back that I could center the castle well.
I understand about the high levels of pinks / reds in #2, but that was actually all part of my plan...
After removing the blurry nightmares, I went through what was remaining and tried to find the ones with different primary colors. Then I went through and found the most interesting compositions of each. I wanted to try to have different colors highlighted as well as different configurations of the fireworks themselves.
I still have 2 more to post, probably tomorrow, and I also have the original "As Shot" versions that I have been contemplating posting as comparison.
Thank you again for taking the time to comment!

Wow what a grand finale !
The lighter colors and reflections look awesome.
Really like how you modified the lighting in each pic. to reflect the audience.
The details on all the pic. are fantastic, catching others taking pictures is a added bonus. As well as you detail the lamp lights and the flowers on the tree, well done.
Looking forward to more of your camera work, thanks for sharing.
