Freedom Wall on the WWII Memorial holds 4,048 gold stars. Each gold star represents one hundred American service personnel who died or remain missing in the war. The 405,399 American dead and missing from WWII are second only to the loss of more than 620,000 Americans during our Civil War. This Image is manipulated to include "The Price of Freedom" narrative plaque in the picture. Thank you for viewing my gallery. To Veterans, I thank you for your service. JC

it is a shame that we must have memorials like this. wars are a realism and has been every since history was recorded.

the Civil War has got to be the most stupid and useless war in modern time where brothers were killing their own brothers over slavery which was ludicrous .
