Nice use of color. I don't think Vermeer was the only painter of the period to have light coming through a window on that side of the painting. It was almost a formula for an informal portrait. It still works today!

Thank you very much. You're right, In the seventeenth century other painters from the Netherlands painted a character near a window with this conventional lighting; Among them: Gerrit Dou, Pieter De Hooch, Gabriel Metsu, Quirijn van Brekelenkam.
