Hi, I'm Andrea, and I'm interested in creatures and plants both wild and tamed, and people of all sorts. I only use a compact digital camera ,as I love being able to get it into a back pocket, and not have to cart heavy kit about. I carry a Panasonic Lumix TZ series, binoculars and a hand lens almost everywhere. Most of my outings are with the dogs so I only use point and shoot.
I am getting the hang of Photoshop, thanks to some very kind folk on RR!
I have a wildlife garden in Bournemouth, Dorset, in the UK, and spend a lot of time there . I retired from teaching art to teenagers a while ago.
I'm now getting some good results with my digi compacts; it took me a while to make the switch from my old film camera, an 1960 ish Pentax Spotmatic, but the mistakes are much cheaper!
I have 4 lodgers, 3 dogs and a parrot who, as at 2017, I have had 40 years.
I has so far had 19 dogs, mostly rescues.

Beautiful watercolor! I Love the washes! All your doodles are so alive, Andrea - they transmit so well moods and feelings. This, is another one. I also like much the placement of the drawing to the left in the sheet. Mark simply will adore this drawing! I am sure :))

To get a painting from you is a true thrill, Andrea, because I just love your paintings, drawings and doodles. 'Peeky' is the right word, as this is one of your characters who seems to have sprouted out of the ground and is peeking out in total surprise. I love her expression, short hair, her "andrea" nose, the almost buddha ears, that typical long neck popping out of an open collar, and her big wide-eyed expression. Love the pinks and flesh tones of her blouse/sweater too. Great blending, as Tara says. With three huuuge leaves to her side, for spring. I love this, Andrea, It doesn't remind me of sickness but of someone popping into existence to say hello. And, as Ana says, you placed it on the left-side, and the rest is open. I love that choice. Helle wrote, "what can be better, than one of your wonderful portraits"---not much. Thank you, this is wonderful, and spring-like too. (I don't have ponds and tons of flowers and plants and amorous frogs and 3 great dogs and such: A lady sprouting into a painting, with those huge deep-green leaves, and that yellow background? Perfect!) Thank you so much, a wonderful birthday gift, Andrea.
