Description

Field horsetail/Prêle des champs (Equisetum arvense). No original idea for the tittle... The plant contains several substances which can be used medicinally. It is rich in the minerals silicon (10%), potassium, and calcium. The buds are eaten as a vegetable in Japan and Korea in spring time.

How about this for a title? "Alien Corn". That's what it looks like to me. Totally alien. And corn. Very cool shot, JC!

Horsetail are even older than trees ... They have been around since time immemorial ... By the way, they are healthy for the gums. A great photo, Jean-Claude!

I learned when I was in the Philippines, people have vegetables that no way resemble the ones here . also when I go to an Oriental store here, there are even more that are eaten by Chinese,Vietnamese,Cambodians, etc.

Great photo of this plant Jean. Never seen or heard of this plant before. very interesting. Horsetail is an herbal remedy that dates back to ancient Roman and Greek times. It was used traditionally to stop bleeding, heal ulcers and wounds, and treat tuberculosis and kidney problems. WOW! Grows here also I read but is a State Prohibited Weed.Learn something new every day 😁 Take care my friend cheers ☕
