Description

I had brought in my car to have a tire fixed and all four tires rotated, all free of charge, whether the tires were bought there or not. While I was waiting on my car, I noticed this old guy. He had brought his 40-year old Chevy pick-up truck in to get new tires, including a spare. When one of the managers informed him (the old guy- on the left in the picture) that the tires were on, but the spare wouldn't fit, the old guy informed the manager that it fit when he brought in the truck. Whereas the manager informed him the reason the spare tire had fitted was because it was flat and his new tire wasn't. At one point, four employees, including the manager were on their knees (or backs) to figure out a way to fit the new spare. Finally they informed the old guy that the only way that new spare would fit is if they partially deflate it. The old guy was happy with this solution and drove away happy. I asked myself why have a new spare if it can't be used? Anyway, its all about customer satisfaction! This picture was taken on 3 March 2017, Sig... __

LOL! Great story. I hope that poor guy doesn't need to use his deflated spare.

Wow! Funny photo and even funnier story with it! Reminds me of the truck that got stuck under a bridge. A 10 year old child suggested letting air out of the tires to get the truck un-stuck! This after a lot of people and salvage trucks had failed to get the truck free. Service with a smile! This reminds me of old fashioned USA - we all pitch in to help each other. Thanks for the much needed laugh! Keep up the good work! :-)

really it does not make sense. I had Chevy pickups of the same era with no issues replacing spares full inflated

Great pic that reminds me of when I was a kid hanging around the local gas station. The owner, the mechanic, and my older brother -the pump jockey in the days before self-service - would be in the repair pit looking up at the underside of a car arguing over what was really wrong. If the bell cord rang, guess who they told to go out to the pump and "fill her up"? Admittedly some of the drivers were a bit hesitant about letting a 14 year old check the oil!

@Buffalo! Great memories for sure for you. In the local Denny's where my buddy and eat breakfast every Monday morning there is a picture on the wall from the 50's where five guys look under the hood of a car, and I can relate to that. How often have my buddies and I looked under the hood, or the car for that matter, to figure out what's wrong, That's why this scene caught my eye!
