For more than 20 years I have worked as a technical writer and commercial designer. My primary focus has been on print and Web design and I'm just now exploring the many incredible tools that exist to create 3D work. My main tools are Poser and Clip Studio Paint, which I use to create comic book style line art. I am also published an Origins Award winning Wild West game called GUTSHOT (see www.hawgleg.com for more info).

I think this version is the best. The sepia tone adds interest and strength. The figure and pose look natural, which is always difficult when drawing from Poser or Daz 3D figures. Please dont think that I didn't appreciate your comments on my Frontiers page 2. Genuine criticism is always welcome. Too often in the comics business people praise work only to feel they know the artist.

Thank you for the thoughtful reply. One of the things I fight against in Poser/Daz Studio is how stiff and upright the figures are. While that's great for heroic poses, it's not great for capturing relaxed moments. Adding a little slump to the shoulders and an unflattering bend to the chest/abdomen helped a lot here. I also needed to make the character heavy (he was described such in the story), which helped a lot here. I also had to let the finishing technique be a little more random and less controlled in terms of placing the inked lines and the sepia/blue regions. I think it gave it a more organic look.
And you're welcome for the comments on your work. I think you did an excellent job with the pages you presented, and your decision to use CG for the equipment is a good idea.

What a fantastic job my friend !!!

All 3 renders have their merits. Since you asked I'd vote for the WIP 1 upper version, because the face is less accentuated and hence offers less distraction. To me it looks more 'precise', easier to grasp. Hope this makes sense to you.

Thanks for the vote. I think all of them have something going for them, and there is a certain "something" about the cleanliness of the simple blue version. Still gotta think about it, and maybe see what the story's author prefers. Thanks again!

Thanks. This was created with 3D, so that is a very high compliment.
