Description

Been a log time since I posted on RR - vision problems made it hard to shoot - but that's better now and I hope to become a more active member in the RR community. It's been over a year since I visited Las Vegas so I was pleased to see they had turned a vacant lot and some old buildings between the Monte Carlo and New York, New York into a park called The Park. A nice open spot with benches and tables, a performing center a few casual restaurants and this statue. I didn't get the name. It's lit by changing colors and was the subject of a lot of photographers. Enjoy

This is surreal & over the top visually, but probably run of the mill for Las Vegas. I love the way you shot it (POV & color intensity)...

I read your bio, and it's quite touching; I wouldn't have been surprised if you told me you'd done pro photography for a long time. Your shots of these strange, exotic LVegas statues---strange and glitzy and bigger than life---capture a toy-like feeling: With the Monte Carlo almost like a screen-backdrop, this faux monumental sight suddenly looks like a setup in a photography studio. It's wonderfully artificial and toy-like. And the light on the ground makes it look like the statue's dancing on ice. (And you allowed a peek of a red light to cut right through this gigantic woman's leg---a great little choice.) The sky looks almost biblical. A fine and true-to-place series of captures.
