Description

Sweeping gracefully down the stairs the crowd parted before her, bowing their heads in respect, as Blindelsyn approached the odd group and stepped between Saevel and his all too eager executioner; while Dervila, though still burning with rage and the will to administer justice right there and then, conceded to the Princess, stepping back and bowing, just as Courynn and Talice did, with the other followed their example. “Your punishment will fit your crime,” Blindelsyn addressed the captured slavers, her cold tone one of undisputed authority, as her eyes bore down on the traitor. “You will live out your days in the service of those you would have prayed upon!” At the raise of her hand, a dozen foresters rushed forward and drug them from the square. Then she turned her attention to the cart, and the dragon’s corpse with in. “Is this to be a trophy?” she asked, the distaste clear in her voice. “No, your highness,” Rynard stepped forward and made a courtly bow, “the Royal Council sent me to investigate the claims that slavers were using a dragon to capture whole encampments,” he explained. “I can think of no better evidence of their truth.” Blindelsyn smiled as she eyed the handsome, young mage. Her brother, Prince Branelwyr, served as Relkath’s Foot’s representative in the Royal Council, leaving her to govern the woodlands, so she had few opportunities to visit coastal Aglarond and often felt too sheltered with in the forest. Therefore, she welcomed any source of news from the world beyond. “So you’ll take it back to Velprintalar with you?” she inquired with the slightest hint of a pout, but then her eyes gleamed with capricious humor as she imagined the uproar it would cause on the city streets… and the Council chambers; “I’m certain you’ll receive quite the reception.” “With your indulgence, your highness,” Rynard replied, “I’ll pen a report to send with the beast and remain here… I believe there is much for me to learn of the Yuir.” He looked to Courynn, who only shook his head and sighed as if frustrated by an unruly child. Blindelsyn followed Rynard’s gaze, and smiled at the young ranger’s reaction. As a Master of the Yuirwood she knew Talice on sight, and was sure she had never seen Nymara, Rynard or Cosar before, but there was something familiar about him... and then it struck her; it had been half a dozen years, but she knew he would face a cold reception. “You are all most welcome among the Yuir,” she announced with sincere warmth, panning her eyes between the odd quintets. She knew that Cosar would find himself with more attention from her foresters than he cared for, and looked forward to learning about recent events in Sildeyuir from Nymara, while Talice she knew was never one to remain in town for long, and Courynn had demons to face that only he could slay, but she found herself most interested in seeing to Rynard’s education in the ways of the Yuir… personally. However, with in the cheering crowd were less than joyful faces and those who weren’t so welcoming.
