Description

Cane toads became pests after being introduced into Australia in 1935 to control destructive beetles in Queensland’s sugarcane crops. These little $%$$$^%$'s are capable of poisoning predators that try to eat them and they continue to spread across Australia. They are FERAL IN THE EXTREME!

WOW! And I thought rabbits and dingoes were the problem.

I recall this as being an example of the dangers of bringing in a species to control another species. There was also the problem of rabbits. Now we get to see the little culprits! Thanks for the photo. Keep up the good work! :-)

Dingoes are indigenous.

Dingoes are not 'technically' indigenous in that they have only been in Australia about 3 or 4 thousand years. They are thought to have been introduced from Asia. But you are right in that they were a great friend to the Aboriginals and certainly NOT the pest that the above little %$%$%$^%$'S are!!!!!!!!!!!

Invasive species are never a good thing. Nature put them in the right place...we came along and screwed things up.
