Description
Sir Gawain was the nephew of King Arthur. He became the head of the Orkney clan after his father Lot died. Just like Lancelot and Percivale, Gawain was the hero in many of his adventures. In the story 'Sir Gawain and the Green Knight', the young Gawain holds steadfast to his oath as a Knight of the Round when he refuses the advances of the beautiful Lady of the castle. His honor and chivalry earns him the respect of the Green Knight and his life is spared.
Tragically, during the rescue of Guinevere Sir Lancelot accidentally slays Gawain's brothers and Gawain swears an oath to kill his once greatest friend. But Lancelot is still the mightiest warrior and Gawain is mortally wounded in the fight. Before he dies Gawain repents of his bitterness towards Lancelot and forgives him. Lancelot is so overcome by this that he weeps for two nights at the tomb of his friend. (http://www.kingarthursknights.com)

The stories of the knights of the Round Table can be tragic but the knights also had many romantic adventures. Here Gawain has just rescued a young maiden and is ready to escort her back to her Castle, but from the look on her face she may have other ideas.
