Hi, My name is Bill and I am updating my homepage to reflect a wonderful event in my life...marriage, September 18, 2010, to my best friend Tara...known to many of you as auntietk here on Renderosity.
We "met" shortly after I joined Renderosity in August 2008. We share a love for photography and indeed all types of art.
We live north of Seattle and enjoy getting to share photographic excursions and information with other Renderositians ( is "Renderositians" even a word? ). LOL
As for me, it seems like I've been taking pictures all my life but I didn't get serious enough to purchase my first Digital Single Lens Reflex (DSLR) camera until May 2008. In May 2009 I upgraded from an Olympus E-510 to an Olympus E-30 with a wide variety of lenses.
My subject areas of interest include absolutely everything but with a frequent return to airplanes, cars, tanks, etc., ...or as Tara says, machines that make lots of noise;-)
If you are curious, I am pictured above in a Grumman Corsair on a taxiway of the Kansas City Downtown Airport. I used to fly and train others to fly airplanes. That will explain my frequent forays into the world of aviation. Last but by no means least, thanks to Pannyhb for introducing me to Renderosity. The moment I saw it I was hooked.
Fine print: Yes, the photo above is a photo manipulation:-)

Outstanding b&w composition. It's got so much gritty character - seems like it could be the starting point of an entire novel or film...

Ah, the little red caboose got a new lease on life. I wonder for how long. Nice photo. They were, and to some extent still are the crews living quarters on long hauls. I wonder about temperature in winter, electricity and running water. Nice photo of an old relic. Keep up the good work! :-)

Some like the sound of trains! An outstanding photo, Bill, perhaps Tara will do us a poem.

Superb capture my friend. God bless.

Good idea, if it wasn't for the trains passing!!

What a brilliant find! I was thinking the same thing as Andrea. Perhaps the squatter likes trains and their noises. There was a restaurant called the Formosa that had been doing business out of an old passenger car since the 1920s. You know the type, where all the celebrities on the wall have passed away. Sadly, it closed recently.

I've always wanted to find one of these and set it up ans a studio - I think that would be so cool! Getting it into the back yard might be a wee bit of a challenge, though...
What a great find and photo, Bill!

I'll have to stop with this, tonight, only for time. But what a piece. The shot itself is beautifully composed, with the angle of the caboose making such musical rhythms with the rest of the surfaces. But then there's your black and white, which is very intense and filled with deep contrasts. And then there's your postwork---something I don't remember seeing too much of from you, I mean this kind of postwork. You added/coaxed out grain, you got sharp edges around the decayed discoloration on the train-car, you got jittery electricity on many of the edges (witness the lettering), etc. It's alive, feels like a Depression shot, and captures the totally contained singular life of an abandoned rail car, sitting unnoticed by many but carrying an electric past (emotionally electric) brought out by your whole treatment of this. Brilliant piece. I love this. And thank you so much for your comments, Bill, and the energy, love and commitment you put into them. You've been gone for so long, it's been so nice to see you here again!

Great capture and it looks cool in b & w. If somebody made it their home they are probably squatters.
