Description
For the underground corridor scene the Divas are currently navigating through.
DAZ Studio 4.9 with 3Delight.
Seven spotlights (currently four are active) for the corridor, two point lights for Wendacora and Lynsey, and a force light (cool name given the lady currently holding it) for Tempestt's magick.
Scene background is black with no image. This helps to add to the darkness since the corridor is open at the end.
You will not get illumination from all the lights in your scene as you work. It depends on your video card/integrated graphics. In my situation for instance, my graphics only allows for 8 lights to be seen in the workspace. You would need to turn some lights off in order to see what other lights are doing, and adjust accordingly. (All lights will be seen in the render, however.)
In the bottom panel there's one spotlight on the NK soldier. This and two other active spotlights are set to blue with spread angles ranging from 68 degrees to 29 degrees.
In my experience whatever default lighting that comes with a scene hardly works; the Sci-Fi corridor by Stonemason, and the Argos Hangar by Nightshift3D being examples. The lights wash out the scene, or not enough light is provided. (Is it because the lights are perhaps optimized for Poser instead of DAZ?) It's best to start from scratch with one spotlight or one distant light and see where it goes from there.
Hope this helps some at least.
Working on getting the Divas to the other end of the corridor and dealing with whatever awaits them. Scene is large and takes a while to load.
Thanks for your support and great art!

Can't use your tips with p9, but enjoy the share of the Diva's. Wonder what awaits?

We shall see, once my laptop finally starts churning out a decent render. Get a few Genesis 2/3 characters plus complex lighting together in one place and you get issues.

I always did my own lighting from the beginning, what you've shown here is interesting

Thanks, Mike. :)

OK.... This is excellent, Wes! I'm always interested in how artists set up their lighting - and yours has been so killer - especially in that tunnel! I'm definitely going to have a play with something like this.
I've used Poser since version 8, and just recently started paying with DAZ 4.9 as I love the look with Iray. the lighting in DS works a bit differently than Poser, but I think I'm starting to get the hang of it. I can see where a complex scene with several characters and lights could make your computer want to pack its bags and go on vacation... And of course I tend to render HUGE... I just did a render of Wen at 2500 X 3200-ish with 2 lights - a distant (sun), and a spot (fill), but it wasn't too bad - only took a little over an hour.
I dropped her into a photo I took using Photoshop - I'll probably post it tomorrow night - after a few tweaks in PS.
Thanks for posting this, buddy!
