A couple of seagulls, with Alcatraz in the background. Sadly, we didn't plan ahead & the boats to Alcatraz were completely booked for the few days we were in the SF Bay Area a few weeks ago. Next time we visit, we'll book in advance...

They're making sure nobody escapes. :) I think they're doing a terrific job! I wonder if anyone told them there aren't any prisoners left out there?

Enjoying a beak into the wind. I like them, but they can be messy and aggressive. And are quite tame, too, provided you behave properly. Nice shot of these fellows. Beautiful birds. Keep up the good work! A pity about the Alcatraz tour, but that overcrowding may be due to prisoners going to Alcatraz for their stint in prison, and newly released ex-prisoners going home! :-)

Good to see the gulls are still at it. Had one Army assignment in SF at the Presidio before it was closed and turned over to the National Park Service. We had government quarters with a full, unhindered view of the Bay. What a place. Looked at Alcatraz every day for 2 1/2 years and never got out there. Bet it is cold except on the warmest of summer days.
