Hi, I'm Andrea, and I'm interested in creatures and plants both wild and tamed, and people of all sorts. I only use a compact digital camera ,as I love being able to get it into a back pocket, and not have to cart heavy kit about. I carry a Panasonic Lumix TZ series, binoculars and a hand lens almost everywhere. Most of my outings are with the dogs so I only use point and shoot.
I am getting the hang of Photoshop, thanks to some very kind folk on RR!
I have a wildlife garden in Bournemouth, Dorset, in the UK, and spend a lot of time there . I retired from teaching art to teenagers a while ago.
I'm now getting some good results with my digi compacts; it took me a while to make the switch from my old film camera, an 1960 ish Pentax Spotmatic, but the mistakes are much cheaper!
I have 4 lodgers, 3 dogs and a parrot who, as at 2017, I have had 40 years.
I has so far had 19 dogs, mostly rescues.

This makes a wonderful art piece. They look like a stack of colored lights.

Cool assorted colors, I see a illusion of a front end of a car in them.

Oooohh! I like these! Anything colorful gets good marks from me.
We have a bobcat on the property here where we camp in Washington, and I saw it today. It looked quite healthy. Wish I could have taken a picture for you, but it was cutting across the clearing at a pretty good clip, and even if I'd had my camera in my hand, you probably would have only seen a blur. I'd seen signs of its presence before, but this was my first actual sighting.

Love the rainbow of colours, I should like a set of these, just to experiment with flash :)

I'm back! (I know, whoop-de-doo, but hey, I keep my word...) Loved this shot the day you posted it. When I first saw it, I just looked at the visual (I wasn't home and didn't have my glasses, so I couldn't read the text very well): I thought it was a stack of colored glass bricks. I would never have guessed it was drawers. It could pass for a pile of glass ice-cream sandwiches...Love the postwork on this, you got a rainbow of colors and distorted forms, and your background is equally glassy and translucent. Terrific job on this. Like a stack of glass ice-cream sandwiches!
(Tara said she saw a bobcat, in her comment...Andrea? If I walk outside and spot a bobcat??? I'm halfway to Canada...We don't get 'bobcats' in Chicago. I mean, do you get them in SE Britain? Aren't they dangerous---or am I giving away my city roots by asking these questions?)
