What a blessing, to go in one's sleep like that. It's never easy to lose someone, no matter how gentle the leave-taking. I love this view of her, sitting in the sun. It's a dramatic and striking photograph, and your treatment gives the feeling of calm in the center of a storm.

Your title "To vanish in the light" could also apply to this image. A gentle and very warm picture of your mother. She must have been a good woman to be rewarded with such a peaceful ending. There is an old belief that as long as a person's name is spoken they are not really gone. Make sure your grandchildren remember her. My sympathy to you and your family.
