Hi, I'm Andrea, and I'm interested in creatures and plants both wild and tamed, and people of all sorts. I only use a compact digital camera ,as I love being able to get it into a back pocket, and not have to cart heavy kit about. I carry a Panasonic Lumix TZ series, binoculars and a hand lens almost everywhere. Most of my outings are with the dogs so I only use point and shoot.
I am getting the hang of Photoshop, thanks to some very kind folk on RR!
I have a wildlife garden in Bournemouth, Dorset, in the UK, and spend a lot of time there . I retired from teaching art to teenagers a while ago.
I'm now getting some good results with my digi compacts; it took me a while to make the switch from my old film camera, an 1960 ish Pentax Spotmatic, but the mistakes are much cheaper!
I have 4 lodgers, 3 dogs and a parrot who, as at 2017, I have had 40 years.
I has so far had 19 dogs, mostly rescues.

I like it! I wonder what its favorite product that it carried, was it the leeks, the fruits?

I have a bag that I take to shows & it has been mended more times that I can remember too.

It's developed character from being well worn...

A million years ago, give or take, I made myself six denim shopping bags with rainbow-twill handles. Okay ... maybe it wasn't a million. Maybe it was somewhere in the late 80s. In any event, we're still using them, and they're just now beginning to show wear! I'm glad to see your old bag still being used. I guess a couple of old bags using old bags is a good thing, huh? :)

Hehehe! I love you terminology, I see so many girls/women, wasting an absolute fortune on designer bags, which will in the inevitable likelihood, fall to pieces in a month or two, and i know what you mean about the make do and mend ethos, my late father drummed it into us boys at an early age with a delightful saying "Buy on? make one!"

I think we went to the same school, Andrea. I have shirts going back thirty years and a day pack that is twenty-two years and they are all in good shape. I liked Tara's comment about old bags carrying old bags but of course I can't say that.

lol often one cannot throw away it 😊

I brag up Tara's old bags to every young checker at the grocery stores I go to...after all, the bags are older than some of the clerks:)

Appears it is going to be good for another 5,000 miles/ or three years/ or more with all the zig and zag going on !
Thanks for sharing.

another reason I come here. Love the shot, love your explanation. I have a few professionally made bags, not for designer purposes, but because they hold sharp objects, big objects, etc, without dying. But many of my years, I was in the Less Make, but More Mend category (I wasn't very good at making bags, like you and Tara, but i mended things till they were ready to drop), and I get the appeal of these old warhorses. And it's a really cool abstract, too. I mean, there are artists who make whole oeuvres of art out of old and patched fabric. Love the upload.
