Description
Hi and many thanks for remembering my poor soul....
You may have noticed, taking many of the old posts down, as memory is completely rubbish and records of previous posts are now gone, I've no idea what I've done, so if something turns up you've seen before sorry for that..
Most new stuff has been worked of late with Akvis refocus (latest version). This has.
This was taken at the 2015 D-Day show at Duxford, (they are having something like this year), its Griffon engined and was built in 1944, went to India, then was transferred after RAF work to the Indian Air Force. Returned to the UK in the 70's, flew again in 1992, as far as is know so far this is the only Mk XIVe flying.
New show end of the month, and 5 new aircraft attending..
Thanks once again, and photo kept big so you use as a screensaver.

Fabulous capture of this flying beauty

Interesting that it went to India as the Hurricanes were made with tube and fabric and join parts so they could be repaired by the skills of India. Apparently, by 1944 these skills had greatly expanded to fully sheet metal monococque and the big Griffon and it's reduction gear and propeller. Now it looks like the Indians make better stuff than the Chinese in the aerospace regime. Maybe just in turbine engines. Spacecraft is a tough comparison as India has no space station. Chinese polar orbits with cryogenic upper stages? I'm dragging thing 10 years at least to find the leading edge.

What a beauty... Isn't it? I hope they keep it flying.

Spits are always great to look at and learn about.

Nice prop blur.....I can even tell it is rotating the other way to a Merlin!
