Description
The following images, of a living host pine tree, were posted April 08, 2016 and May 25, 2015.
Wild grape vines have again come to life, but will soon
catch a gust of wind and come crashing once more into the shadows.

According to this resource >

wild grape vines can climb to approximately 15 meters, but I venture to guess
that these vines, having killed its host, now reach nearly twice that height .

It's fascinating how those vines can completely cover a tree - or a utility pole. Cool shot, Kenn!

there is a vine that was imported from China to provide ground cover in Louisiana and it took over several areas covering anything and every thing in it's path. it is in parts of Texas and Mississippi. resistant to all products that are for killing plant life. years ago I worked at a home and there was a really large tree next to it and some kind of vine was growing on it. the stalks were several inches in diameter

You may be referring to Kudzu aka Japanese arrowroot, a very prolific vine.
