Engine fires As engine fires occurred with the B-36's radial engines, some crews humorously changed the aircraft's slogan from "six turning, four burning" into "two turning, two burning, two smoking, two choking, and two more unaccounted for.

On 12 February 1959, the last B-36J built, AF Ser. No. 52-2827, left Biggs AFB, Texas, where it had been on duty with the 95th Heavy Bombardment Wing, and was flown to Amon Carter Field in Fort Worth, where it was put on display. Within two years, all B-36s, except five used for museum display, had been scrapped at Davis-Monthan AFB

@Richardphotos! Thanks Richard for the info. I saw a picture of a B-36 in an album in 1952 and marveled at this giant. In spring 1963 while in Tech School at Chanute AFB, Rantoul, Illinois they had a B-36 on static display on the base and we were marched by there on a daily basis moving from the dorm to the school. In 1981 we went to the Air Force Museum at Wright-Patterson but I don't remember seeing a B-36. In 1997 I saw a B-36 on static display at the museum near the former Castle AFB in Stockton, CA, and in 2010 I saw the B-36 inside a hangar on display at Wright-Patterson. None of the displays, other than the one at Chanute AFB, and that was before my picture-taking time, were displayed for easy picture taking.,

Beautiful series. I wasn't aware that any of these giants had been preserved.
