Description

I had seen both this and the concurrent APC at an open house at the older of the two Hilton's in town before that hotel was torn down. Comes 9-11 of 2014 and my sister and I were in El Paso and at Fort Bliss as they held their memorial ceremony. That is my sister in the photo as far as credits go. This was supposedly a difficult exhibit to obtain.

Good profile view. And, I like the text on the gun barrel. Keep up the good work! :-)

Good photo. I imagine that would be a difficult exhibit to obtain, as most of these original 105 mm M1 tanks were upgraded to M1A1 and M1A2 (bigger main gun than here) and variants (SEP, TUSK, etc) over time and are generally either still in service or sold to allied countries or in reserve storage. I've only seen two of these as museum pieces before and one of those was an XM1 prototype. This appears to be the first production model.

Isn't that supposed to be an Abrams tank, as displayed in this neat sharp photo? Looks like it's all painted up for desert warfare. And, I served the remainder of my enlistment at Fort Bliss near the end of World War II. Used to go bowling at night in El Paso.

Guess the headless one could not see or explain the exhibit. Cool tank.
