Really nice! Great lighting, and the classic "he doesn't know what's behind him" builds instant tension. As always, the water color is great. Pose is simple but good, and I like your treatment of his teeth (wise not to use too much detail). And this time you nailed it with the right amount of texture vs painterly effects on his uniform. My one critique for this time around is the type used. You chose a nice, aged look for this mock cover, but those typefaces are decidedly modern. They just don't scream "pulp" to me (although the bottom one is okay -- maybe it just needs to be not-so-white; a little brown or some spots might age it). And the dot pattern on the type doesn't look "real" to me -- it just looks like an artsy effect, rather than a relic of that time. For me, the text breaks the illusion that you were striving for, that this is an aged cover. By the way, the eyes on the creature are great! Just the right glow and hint of anger. VERY NICE JOB all around.
