My granddad had a lovely little penknife. I can see him now peeling an apple with it.

Two well used antiques. My father never had a pocket knife. I still have my Swiss Army knife but have since moved up to a Leatherman muti-tool which I carry when I travel.

I carried a pocketknife in my purse for years. It came in handy many times! Now that I'm retired I no longer carry a purse, and get on far too many airplanes to make a pocketknife a practical accessory any more. Amazing, how many things I thought I needed with me at all times that I now never think of.

It's nice to see these knives!

Wow yet another wonder in your collection of antiques Andrea.

Thanks for sharing, and it is wild to know someone with so many golden oldies.

Sadly I don't know anyone in my family that collected and kept anything very valuable.

I do have a dresser my grandfather made when he was young-- he died at the age of 45 when I was born, 66 yrs. ago.

It has the old small rolling casters on the bottom to move easily--- however my dear hubby thought he was doing us a favor and redid the outer coating and it immediately lost most or all of its antique value. But it is a family heir loom which has no price value.

We bought a home with the old glass n brass door knobs on the bedrooms and bathroom and one of our workmen, asked if we would consider taking them off -- no go-- I know one can not buy them any longer.. LOL
