Also in the garden this morning Ive looked through hundreds of flies in my books but am unable to identify it. thanks for stopping to take a look

Amazing detail in the full image. Just a guess maybe a fruit fly? Moon snails on the east coast of the US can grow up to 5 inches not including their foot.

superb macro. I have been killing them daily 2-3 times each day. I put up fly traps and they really work great, but they attract flies also. I have killed a few horseflies which are very fast for their size. I purchased heavy duty fly swatters that are a little larger than normal ones. they are not biting my dog's ears near as bad as previous years
